5 months

Sawyer is five months today... I know this is totally cliche, but time is flying by!

I skipped the four month update because there wasn't really anything new that had gone on (well, at least nothing significant). However, that isn't true for five months! In the past few months Sawyer has learned how to roll from his belly to his back. He loathes tummy time and I think he learned this trick so he could quickly roll to avoid being on his tummy for too long. On the other hand, he loves to stand up and bounce. Seriously. This kid will bounce your arms off. We've tried a Johnny Jumper (or whatever it's called), but he still doesn't have enough balance to do it on his own. Hopefully soon because I look like a body builder from all the bouncing.

We haven't officially started him on solid foods yet. We have been letting him explore and play with foods (bananas, sweet potatoes, and avocados), but he hasn't learned how to chew and swallow them. In case you are wondering, we are going to try out the baby-led weaning approach. I'll be posting more about it when he turns six months.

Sawyer has become more and more social :) he loves to pick out someone in the crowd and smile and try to get them to smile back. I think it's the most adorable thing in the world!

He loves to sleep with us, and I have to admit that we love it too! Especially in the mornings when he wakes up bright -eyed and bushy-tailed. He never cries when he wakes up. Instead we wake up to his sweet little voice chattering and cooing away. Aaron and I both love to listen and watch him so happy to be starting a new day. Some days he will chatter for an hour or more!

We still don't know what color of eyes he's going to have. They aren't quite blue, brown, or green. They are kind of a mixture of all three colors. So we'll just have to wait a little longer to find out.

Mothering this sweet little guy has been more amazing than I ever imagined. I wake up every day excited to play with him, help him explore the world, and tell him how much I love him. The world will always be available to show people how insignificant and replaceable they are, but in his home and with his little family he is always guaranteed to feel how important and irreplaceable he is. I love that about being a stay-at-home mom, and I am grateful that our situation allows me to be at home with him all the time. There is no other hobby or career that is more important than making sure my baby is loved and cared for in the best way possible, and since there is no one that loves him more than Aaron and I do I feel that we are the best people for the job :)
