A Memory Filled Weekend

For the past two weeks, Aaron and I had been planning to go camping for a couple of days during the weekend.
And then it rained...

Instead we spent time in our little garden. So far, we have pumpkins, tomatillos, heirloom tomatoes, raspberries, strawberries, celery, bell peppers, spinach (which still haven't sprouted yet), and zucchini. It is probably the most spoiled garden in the whole world. Aaron has equipped it with a drip system and a weed-killing tarp to keep most of the weeds out. He is the man.

We decided to simply go on a hike instead of spending the whole night in the forest, just in case of rain. Aaron took me to "Devil's Kitchen," which was a pretty short hike, but the scenery was fantastic! We wore our Vibrams because it seems less ridiculous when two people look silly together. A little kid asked why we weren't wearing shoes.

On Monday night we had a BBQ in the park with our friends--potato salad, watermelon, baked beans, and brownies. Needless to say I stuffed myself forgetting that we had to bike ride back to our house. I'm pretty amazed I kept it all in.
And the finale to our weekend involved Aaron and I playing a few rounds of Super Smash Brothers and Michael Jackson The Experience.

Three years ago on Memorial Day weekend I said good bye to Aaron as he left for his two year mission. Last year on Memorial Day weekend I sent my last letter to him telling him all about the fun things we were going to do together, and this Memorial Day weekend was spent doing some of the fun things we had planned :) I'm so happy to have him here with me. We really are best friends.

P.S. Ashley, thanks for the black bean burger recipe! Twas delicious :)
